Northern Mongolia

The northern region of Mongolia consists of heavily forested mountains and clear lakes, long running rivers and absolutely beautiful valleys. The landscape of the northern region includes the provinces of Khuvsgul, Selenge, Bulgan and Zavkhan which covers over 273000 square kilometers of land.

The heavily dense forests are adjacent to and part of the Southern Siberian taiga. The forests of the region largely consist of trees such as larch, pine and birch trees. The wilderness of northern Mongolia consists of animals such as wolves, foxes, red deers, mooses, brown bears, wolverines and reindeers to name a few. Many species of animals took habitat in the heavily forested areas and water birds also live in the northern region. Near Lake Khuvsgul, there are excellent opportunities to come and see the Tsaatan folks. Their lifestyle and settlement are very unique to experience.
